Mary “Ione” Morgan, age 85, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at her home in Olney, Texas. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Olney with Dr. Chad Edgington officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Ione to her family and friends, was the nicest and friendliest person you could ever meet. She loved people, and she loved her family. She was selfless and very benevolent. If you needed anything, she would find a way to help you out. She was always concerned about those around her. Ione spent most of her adult life in the Dallas area. She managed several different apartment complexes, and she loved her tenants. Taking care of people made her happy. After her husband passed, she moved back to Olney to live close to her family. She made lots of friends here, and she attended First Baptist Church when she was able. She gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at the age of 80! She was a little bit “spicy,” but she was oh so sweet. Very compassionate toward people and her pets. She was the rock of her family. Many trials and hardships came her way, but she always managed to overcome. She was optimistic and always saw the good in people. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. When she went dove hunting, it was said that she was a good shot, but that she would shoot “ANY” bird that flew over.
Ione will be dearly missed. She was a loving Memaw who raised her family with unwavering love, strength, and grace. Her kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. If she could speak to us, she would tell us to LOVE JESUS, LOVE PEOPLE, BE KIND, and keep marching on!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Vera (Bell) Tidwell; her husband, Bob Morgan; and her sister, Johnnie Sue Boydston.
Ione is survived by her daughter, Angela Renae York of Olney, Texas, her son, Johnny Ray Robertson of Olney, Texas, her brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie Wales and wife Tracy of Olney, Texas, her three grandchildren: Robbie York, Hailee Miller and husband Chase, and Wesley Forbes, her eight great-grandchildren, her cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
