Mary Jo Johnson, age 50, passed away on August 6, 2024, at her home in Newcastle, Texas. Memorial services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at First Baptist Church Newcastle, with Aaron Gowens, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Mary Jo was born November 14, 1973, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Leon Lee and Alice Margaret (Mosley) Pearson. She moved to Newcastle, Texas, in 2003 from Graham, Texas. Mary Jo married James Johnson on March 17, 2012. She was a loving mother to her two children, her son Dylan Johnson and her daughter Justice Johnson. Mary Jo worked diligently as a substitute teacher for many years. Mary Jo enjoyed being creative and had different hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, painting, and vinyl work. She also enjoyed being out in nature, and when she was, she enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, Leon Lee Pearson.

Survivors include her mother, Margaret Ochs of Newcastle, Texas; her husband, James Johnson of Newcastle, Texas; her children, Dylan and Justice Johnson, both of Newcastle, Texas; and her two brothers: Stacy Mosley of Granbury, Texas, and Richard Pearson of Gun Barrel, Texas.
