Mary Alice Kunkel, age 83, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olney, with Rev. Sean Reeves, pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow at the St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Olney.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Mary Alice was born on July 26, 1939, in Weldon, Texas to the late Currie Atmal Skains and Sadie Augusta (Manning) Skains. She married Wilbur J. Kunkel on December 5, 1959, in Snyder, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2011. She was a longtime resident of Olney and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She lived in Terral, Oklahoma for the past several years to be near her family. Mary Alice had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun at everyone's expense. She enjoyed cooking, loved to do canning from the family garden and was famous for her homemade pickles. Most of all, Mary Alice loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren: Heidi Kunkel and Cameron Kunkel; one brother, Billy Skains, and one sister, Shirley Gamblin.

Mary Alice is survived by two sons: Mark Kunkel and wife Kim of Terral, Oklahoma and Kyle Kunkel and wife Joanne of Holliday, Texas; five grandchildren: Chris Kunkel, Curry Kunkel and wife Madison, Cassie Morath and husband Will, Sadie Kunkel, Codi Bauer and wife Tandy; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Skains and wife Lynda of Little Rock, Arkansas, one sister, Joyce Gamblin and husband Rell of Llano, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Pat Skains of Wichita, Kansas.
