Melody Jane Thompson, age 56, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her home. The family is going down memory lane for Melody. Lunch will be served at noon at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located at 401 N. East Street, Seymour, Texas, 76380. Graveside service and balloon release will be at 2:00 pm in Riverview Cemetery, with Louis Golden, officiating. Everyone is invited back to the Church for visiting.

Melody was born March 24, 1961 in Weatherford, Texas to John and Betty Jane (Wright) Roden. She and Billy Wayne Thompson were married August 16, 1995 in Olney, Texas. She was a caregiver. Melody loved to paint and make jewelry and to play on her computer. She also raised birds. Melody was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ward; her brother, Nathan Roden; her son, Michael Shannon Copeland; and her father-in-law, Jerry Thomas.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Wayne Thompson of Olney; two sons: Clint King and Caleb King; two daughters: Sara King and Hannah King; fourteen grandchildren: Dixie, Daisy, Delilah, Carmen, Jo, Lexie, Landon, Parker, Leighton, Addison, Natalie, Emma, Lily and Michael; two brothers: Royce Mclain of Dublin, Texas and Tony Rainwater of Seymour, Texas; three sisters: Rhelda Hutchens of Seymour, Texas, Cindy Harvey of Corsicana, Texas and Tracy Roden of Olney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Shane and Anita Hendrix of Olney, Danny Thompson of Olney, Tony Thompson of Olney, Randy and Ann Aaron of Fairfield, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Troy Thompson and LaRue Thomas of Elbert, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
