Melva Jean Davis, age 88, died April 20, 2020 at Terrace West Nursing and Rehabilitation in Midland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas with Scotte Clark, minister of the Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Melva was born on May 28, 1931 in Ranger, Texas to the late Hubert Sidney Dodd, Sr. and Esther Ann (Boles) Dodd. She married Teddy Lew Davis on March 31, 1950 in Odessa. She was a longtime resident of Odessa and a member of the Methodist Church. Melva was a former private detective. She liked to go shopping and have her hair styled, but most of all, she enjoyed all of the great times she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Melva was preceded in death by her husband on March 23, 2011; her brother, H.S. Dodd, Jr.; and four sisters, Marie Dick, Stella Reynolds, Geneva Baccus and Ruby Kelley.

Melva is survived by one son, Craig Davis and wife Nedinah of Odessa; one grandson, Craig Davis, Jr. and wife Amanda of Odessa; one granddaughter, Lauren Davis and husband Jose of Odessa; and three great-grandchildren, Kylee Davis, Haylee Davis and Rylee Davis.
