Michael H. Huff

Michael H. Huff, age 75, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Olney Hamilton Hospital. A public visitation and celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Michael was born on February 20, 1951, in Brady, Texas, to the late Challis and Dorothy (Franke) Huff. He graduated from Cooper High School and continued his education at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration.

On October 3, 1975, Michael married Terrye J. Barber in Abilene, Texas. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, and a commitment to one another that spanned more than 50 years.

Michael devoted much of his life to healthcare leadership. He had a genuine passion for making healthcare better for patients, employees, physicians, and the communities they served. He believed a hospital was more than a building or a business. It was a place people depended on during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. Throughout his career, Michael was known as a straightforward and fair leader who listened to people, treated them with respect, and was never afraid to make the difficult decisions that came with leadership.

Michael moved to Olney in 2011 from Ellijay, Georgia, and Olney became much more than the place he worked. It became his home and a community he deeply cared about. Serving Olney Hamilton Hospital and helping position it for the future became an important part of his life’s work. One of his proudest professional moments was seeing the groundbreaking for the new Hamilton Hospital, a milestone that represented years of dedication, perseverance, and his belief in the future of healthcare in the community he served.

Away from the hospital, Michael was simply Dad, Grandad, husband, brother, and friend. He loved hunting and fishing and could always find time for Dallas Cowboys football or Rangers and Astros baseball. He enjoyed good conversation, had a straightforward way about him, and was never one to leave you wondering what he thought. Those who knew Michael knew where they stood with him, but they also knew he would listen, be fair, and do what he believed was right.

Above everything else, Michael loved his family. His greatest legacy will not only be found in the hospitals and communities he helped strengthen, but in the family he loved, the people he influenced, the friendships he built, and the example he leaves behind. His family will carry him forward through the stories, lessons, laughter, and countless memories they shared, continuing to live in a way that would make him proud.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of family, leadership, service, and a life spent trying to leave things better than he found them. He will be deeply missed, but the impact he made and the memories he created will continue through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael was quick to tell everyone to hug your loved ones tightly.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Challis and Dorothy Huff, and his son, Kyle Huff.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Terrye J. Huff of Olney, Texas; his sons, Chris Huff and wife Jenny of Marble Falls, Texas, and Patrick Huff of Olney, Texas; his granddaughter, Kylee Huff of Marble Falls, Texas; his sisters, Linda Huff-Franey of Abilene, Texas, and Kay Cramer of Baird, Texas; as well as three nieces, one nephew, and many friends and colleagues whose lives he touched throughout the years.
