Obituary

Milton Wayne Koester, age 71, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olney, Texas, with Rev. Sean Reeves, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Lunn Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Milton was born on April 29, 1947 in Olney, Texas to Herbert H. Koester and Marguerite Josephine (Buerger) Koester. He graduated from Olney High School in 1965 and attended Draughon's Business School. He was a lifetime resident of Olney and was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he served on the Stewardship Board. He married Eva Neff on December 29, 1968 in Olney. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2017. Milton went to school and worked for Weaver Airline in Chicago for a short time, but moved back to Olney and helped on his Dad's farm for most of his life. He had worked for General Motors in Dallas, Texas, as quality control inspector, and then for Dayco in Olney in the same capacity. He was the caretaker of Tommy Perkins Park, owned the Picture Show video rental store for many years, and was retired from Germania Insurance after more than twenty years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, his wife, and his son-in-law, Josh McCracken.

Milton is survived by his father, Herbert Koester of Olney, Texas; one daughter, Kyra McCracken of Olney, Texas; one son, Ernie Koester and wife Karrie of Grapevine, Texas; two grandchildren: Kalli Koester and Emma Koester both of Grapevine, Texas; one brother, Daniel Koester and wife Jean of Brilliant, Alabama; two sisters: Connie Koester of Olney, Texas and Brenda Roberts and husband Paul of Archer City, Texas; his cousins: Linda Abbott and husband Charles of Richardson, Texas and Patricia Taylor and husband James of Chesterton, Indiana; and numerous in-laws through his 48 years of marriage to Eva. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family, along with his favorite feline companion, Molly.
