Obituary

Nancy Heard passed away on March 26, 2025. Public visitation will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Cemetery. Pastor Josh Hagle, of Southside Baptist Church, will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Nancy was born on February 2, 1937, to the late Ivy Hershal and Ruth Willmon (Richardson) High in Seymour, Texas. She moved to Olney in 1988 from Seymour and married Clifford Dale Heard. They spent thirty-six years together before he preceded her in death in February. Nancy was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding a crowd. Dale's vast garden crop granted her a yearly supply of ingredients for wonderful dishes to prepare. She enjoyed crocheting and was a talented seamstress. Nancy even taught young 4-H members how to sew. She custom-tailored western suits for Wendy's riding events. Nancy loved to go to rodeos and watch all of the different events, keeping track of the timed events. She was known to keep an impeccable house. Nancy enjoyed going to the lake and participating in several lake activities, including skiing (in her younger years), boating on Possum Kingdom Lake, and swimming and fishing as often as possible. Nancy cherished her time with Southside Baptist Church, including cooking for and serving the Baptist Student Ministry students, playing the tambourines during church service, and the many game nights they shared.

She now joins her husband Clifford Dale Heard, her parents, her brother John High, her sisters Virginia Reynolds, Patsy Ford, and Glenna Jungman, and all of her beloved pets that preceded her in death.

Nancy is survived by her son Jim "Bubba" Stout of Seymour, Texas, her daughter Wendy Jones of Jacksboro, Texas, grandson Rex Weber, granddaughter Audra (Weber) and Sean Cason, granddaughter Chezna (Stout) Medford, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her bonus children and families of: Sanford Heard, Rhonell George, Jan Janssen, Nanette Ames, Richard Heard, and Lisa Clayton. She is also survived by their beloved Chihuahua, Harley.

A special thank you to Johnnie and Skyler Harden for their kindness and support over the past year - your help has meant the world to our family.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mark Mankins and the staff of Olney Hamilton Hospital, as well as Faith Community Hospital of Jacksboro; and the teams at Grace Care Center, Graham Oaks Care Center, and Beyond Faith Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
