Nona M. Lowe

Nona Mae Kelly was born to Jack and Kate Kelly in Abilene, Texas on March 28, 1927. Nona went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, June 12, 2023. The family moved to Commerce, Texas where Nona grew up, graduated from Commerce High School, and attended East Texas State Teacher's College (now Texas A & M at Commerce).

On June 7, 1946, Nona married Harlen E. Lowe in Commerce. To this union, were born three children: LeJina Pat, Lana Jan, and Len Jack.

After living in Denison, Sherman, and Lubbock, where Harlen had been a teacher and a coach, Harlen then entered school administration in Nocona. The family moved to Olney from Nocona in 1961.

As a member of First United Methodist Church, Nona served on numerous committees, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Alpha Night Circle.

In 1963, Nona began her career with Olney Savings Association. She served as a Senior Vice President of Human Resources at the time of her retirement in October 1989.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlen Lowe, on July 25, 1983; her son, Len Lowe on January 6, 2005; by her parents, Jack and Kate Kelly, and by 2 sisters, Maurine Daniel, and Betty Cummings.

Nona is survived by her daughters, Jina and her husband Larry Becker of China Spring, and Jan and her husband, Wayne Hobson of Olney. She is also survived by four granddaughters: Leslie Ann Moulton and her husband, Tres, of Mansfield; Jamie Michelle Frans and her husband, Larry, of Grand Prairie; Amy Pierson and her husband, Jeremy, of Paradise; and Jennifer Riggins, of Graham. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren: Will, Claire, and Walker Moulton; Jack and Lilly Frans; Jenna, Trenton, Karli, and Maddux Pierson; and Zachery and Brayden Riggins.

Nona is also survived by one brother, Jack O. Kelly and wife Patsy, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Restland Cemetery in Olney with Harrell Braddock, Jr., minister of First United Methodist Church, Officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
