Obituary

Reba Lee Mahler, age 95, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Family visitation will be Friday, February 16, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Elbert Methodist Church with Jay Gage, pastor of First Methodist Church of Seymour, Texas, officiating.  Burial will follow in Elbert Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Reba was born on December 23, 1928, in Childress, Texas to the late William Peter "Bill" Manuel and Minnie Lee (Smith) Manuel. She graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1945. She married Vernon Mahler on August 17, 1950, in Olney, Texas. They made their home in Rule, Texas for nearly fifty years before moving to Elbert, Texas in 2005. Vernon preceded her in death on March 2, 2014. Reba was a retired Paraprofessional and the students she worked with at school loved her dearly. Reba had a passion for music and served as the Song Leader at Rule Methodist Church and Elbert Methodist Church for many years. Reba was a devout Christian woman who loved everyone and never hesitated to stop and pray for anyone who asked no matter where she was or what she was doing. Reba had a love for cooking inspired by her mother.  She was famous for her banana bread which she baked and shared throughout her community. Above all, Reba was loved and adored by her family to whom she brought faith, love and strength to. And she loved and adored her family.

Reba was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Teresa Cornelius, her great-grandson, Callan, three brothers, and one sister.

Reba is survived by two grandchildren: Melissa Cornelius of San Angelo, Texas, and Jeff Cornelius and his wife Darcy of Abilene, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Dakota Donaldson, Dalton Donaldson and his wife Paige, and Vernon Garrett Cornelius; three brothers: Lyndel Manuel of Elbert, Texas, Jerry Don Manuel of Elbert, Texas and Larry Manuel of Canyon, Texas; two sisters: Laquita Kee of Amarillo, Texas and Beth Frost of Elbert, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
