Bob was born in Olney, Texas on July 15, 1930, to Henry Craig and Winnie Dees Craig. He graduated from Olney High School in 1947 and from Baylor University in 1951. He married his Baylor sweetheart, Marian Lewallen, on March 8, 1952, in Mineral Wells, Texas. Olney was their home for more than 61 years until she passed away in 2013. Bob married Rosalee Dark Myers on January 2, 2016, in Olney, Texas.
Bob's life was a model of industry, energy, integrity, gentleness, and kindness. He was a self-employed geologist, oil producer, and rancher. Having spent over 70 years in the oil industry, he was a wealth of knowledge about the business and the multiple generations of people whose paths crossed his. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a past member of the Rotary Club, Board of Industry and Commerce, and Olney Community Development. He felt especially honored to serve on the Olney Hamilton Hospital board for almost three decades.
Bob loved nature. He spent many joyful hours cultivating his crops, plants, and flowers and looked forward to his daily checks of his leases and cattle. In his gardens, on his farm, and in his life, he always endeavored to leave the soil better than he found it.
Bob adored his "sweet family" and never missed a chance to say how proud he was of them. He especially enjoyed hearing about his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's latest accomplishments, adventures, and antics. He also treasured the evenings spent with his good friends gathered around the "Round Table," where all the world's problems were solved.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marian Craig; and his brother, William Craig.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalee Dark Craig; two sons: Alan Craig and Carl Craig and wife Karen; six grandchildren: Daphne Jones and husband Michael, Jason Craig and wife Summer, Kristin Gerety and husband Peter, Caitlin Craig, Catherine Stone and husband Justin, and Claire Craig; nine great-grandchildren: Tyler Jones and wife Brooke, Zachery Jones, Magnolia Craig, Augustus Craig, Madeline Gerety, Evangeline Craig, Kieran Gerety, William Stone, and Charlotte Stone; great-great-granddaughter, Claire Jones; nephew, Bill Craig and wife Deb; and dearest friend and longtime employee, Sara Lewis and husband Freddie.
