Roxa Casteel, age 94, of Newcastle, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Grace Care Center in Olney. The family will gather for a private funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, with Scotte Clarke, minister of Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Friends are welcome to attend the graveside committal at Newcastle Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Roxa was born on August 26, 1928, in DeQueen, Arkansas to the late James Culp and Sarah Alice (Billingsley) Culp.  She married James Edward "Ed" Casteel on June 15, 1946, in Horatio, Arkansas. They moved to Newcastle in 1958 from Holliday and loved living in a small town. She was a fantastic wife, mother and grandmother and really enjoyed cooking. She made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Family always came first with Roxa and she made you feel safe and secure. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and painting and had a creative way of keeping things…just in case someone needed something.

Roxa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Ed" on October 30, 2000; three sons, Don Casteel, Danny Casteel and Jimmy Casteel; two grandchildren, James Daniel Casteel and Annette Casteel; five brothers and three sisters.

Roxa is survived by one son, Ronny Casteel of Newcastle; three daughters: Ginger Horn of Graham, Darla Fikes and husband Steve of Olney, and Carla Casteel of Newcastle; one daughter-in-law, Deb Casteel of Graham; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
