Sylvia Furr

Sylvia Furr, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Elison Assisted Living & Memory Care in Graham, Texas. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 am, at St. Luke Lutheran Church with the Reverend Sean Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Sylvia was born on July 24, 1939, in Tyler, Texas, to Ewald and Nelda (Moerbe) Weise. She married Louis Edward Furr on June 15, 1963, in Houston, Texas, and they spent sixty-two years together before her passing. Sylvia and Ed had four daughters, and she took great joy in being a mother. She loved the Lord and was very involved in her church community at St. Luke Lutheran Church, volunteering in the children’s ministry and with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for many years. Sylvia also loved music and had a beautiful voice, which she used as a member and a soloist in her church choir to glorify God. She was also passionate about the Olney High School Band and volunteered as a Band Booster for many years. Additionally, Sylvia volunteered and served as a group leader with the local 4-H club when her daughters were young.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald Weise and Nelda (Moerbe) Weise.

Sylvia is survived by her husband Louis Edward Furr of Olney, Texas, and her four daughters and sons-in-law: Caroline Boyd and husband Lee of Graham, Texas, Laura Backer and husband Kurt of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Rebecca Bose and husband Ron of Round Rock, Texas, and Leigh Nordstrom and husband Jason of Dallas, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Doug Weise and wife Donna of Panama City Beach, Florida, and her two sisters: Nelda Mann and Sandra Kay Weise, both of Houston, Texas; her eleven grandchildren: Jared and Kayla Hoaldridge, Paden McCown, Katherine and Alex Partridge, Ariana, Levi, and Noah Bose, Matthew and Laurel Boyd, Elizabeth Boyd, Ben and Krysten Backer, Zachary and Toby Backer-Chupp, and Rachael and Colton Dale; and her ten great-grandchildren.
