Thomas C. Humphrey, age 79, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Olney Healthcare Center in Olney, Texas. Graveside Services will be on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Megargel Cemetery in Megargel, Texas, with Cully Williams of Olney, officiating. Services are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Thomas was born on December 7, 1934 in Avoca, Texas to the late Chris C. and Stella (Weeks) Humphrey. He served in the National Guard and was a Baptist. He moved to Olney in 1984 from Round Timbers, Texas. Thomas had worked in the oilfield most of life, having worked for Megargel Drilling, Hughes and Palmer and Hughes Oil Company. His friends and family affectionately called him "Sonny". He and Lois Gentry were married on January 17, 1959 in Olney, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2009.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Renee Humphrey; two brothers: Joe Humphrey and Jack Humphrey; and five sisters: Lillie Dillard, Bobbie North, Mary Lefler, Maxine Gilbert and Ann Frazier.

Thomas is survived by two sons: Charles Humphrey of Ft. Worth and Darrell Humphrey of Olney; one daughter, Regina Damron of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
