Wanda Jean Clifton, age 89, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Elison Assisted Living in Graham, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Olney, with Dr. Chad Edgington officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery and will be officiated by Sean Reeves, Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olney. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Wanda was born on December 7, 1936, to the late T.M. and Amie (Bateman) Mills in Young County. She married Carlton “Corky” Clifton on March 10, 1955, in Olney, Texas, and they spent fifty-one years together before he preceded her in death in July 2006. Wanda was named Citizen of the Year in 2010. She retired as Olney City Secretary at age 81 in June of 2017, where she was highly regarded for her excellent penmanship. Wanda was very family-oriented, and it carried over into her friends and co-workers. She was an avid reader of Harlequin romance novels. Wanda was known to make fabulous home-cooked meals, especially comfort food. She was baptized in the Brazos River at the bridge near Padgett, Texas, and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Olney. Wanda was a lifetime resident of Young County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amie and T.M. Mills, and her husband, Corky Clifton.

Wanda Jean is survived by her children: Cullen Clifton and wife Christine of Graham, Texas, Dr. Kevin Clifton of Huntsville, Texas, and Cody Clifton and wife Jennifer of Fort Worth, Texas; her five grandchildren: Marley Hungerford, Noah Clifton, Claire Clifton, Carleigh Clifton, and Cassie Clifton; and her sister LaVelle Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas.
