Wanda Richardson Irby, age 79, died Friday, December 20, 2013, at her granddaughter's home in Byers, Texas. Graveside Services will be on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, Texas, with Rev. Terri Whitgrove, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Byers, officiating. Services are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Wanda was born on October 1, 1934 in Elbert, Texas to the late Walter Calvin and Ellen Lee (Kirkpatrick) Richardson. After high school graduation, she was a telephone operator in Olney and had worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. She married James Tomas "Jim" Irby on October 19, 1991 in Perrin, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2009. She moved to Burkburnett in 2008 from Seymour. She was known around the community as "Wanda the Witch", especially at Halloween. She loved to garden and to paint. In her younger years, she drove racecars and semi-trucks. Wanda was a Methodist, a member of the Loners on Wheels Campers, the National Genealogical Society of Haskell, Texas, and the American Postal Workers Union.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Heather Louise Bentley; one brother, Lloyd Richardson; and one sister, Nadine Richardson.

Wanda is survived by three sons: Harley Robin Roam of Huntsville, Texas, James Ray Bentley of Comanche, Texas, and Shawn Lee Bentley of Burkburnett, Texas; one daughter, Miranda Ellen Bentley Miller of Ft. Worth, Texas; one step-daughter, Bridy Ann Cantrell of Bridgeport, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
