Elbert ~ Wilton Ernest Cantrell, age 72, died Monday, January 26, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, Texas, with Rev. Peter Parker, pastor of First Baptist Church in Throckmorton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Wilton was born September 10, 1942 in Hog Creek, Texas to the late Raymond and Emma (Hickam) Cantrell. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a farmer and rancher and a lifelong resident of Elbert. Wilton served as the County Commissioner of Precinct 4 in Throckmorton County and was active in Elbert and Throckmorton community activities. Wilton was preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Chad Cantrell, and two brothers: Sonny Hickam and Wallace Cantrell.
Survivors include one daughter, Kaylee Cadotte and husband Andrew of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren: Taylor and Ace Cadotte of Wichita Falls; and, sister-in-law Leona Hickam of Olney.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
